"All that I hope to say in books, all that I ever hope to say, is that I love the world." -- E.B. White

E.B. White was born in New York, but began visiting the Belgrade Lakes area of Maine as a boy. He bought a farm in Brooklin, Maine in 1933. He is quoted as saying "I would really rather feel bad in Maine than good anywhere else."
